Steven Shechter is an Assistant Professor in the Sauder School of
Business at the University of British Columbia. His research
focuses on applying dynamic programming and simulation techniques to
health care decisions. He is particularly interested in decision
problems around patient treatment and screening policies, and has
worked on related problems for HIV, kidney disease, and liver
disease. Steven is a past recipient of the INFORMS Bonder
Scholarship for Health Care Research, and is the 2012 president of
the Health Applications Society of INFORMS. Recently, he was
awarded a Career Investigator Award from the Michael Smith
Foundation for Health Research for his work on optimal timing
questions in medicine.
